Lakes & Dales supporting Stanhope’s 175th Agricultural Show

The Annual Stanhope Show is County Durham’s premier agricultural show. A traditional Dales agricultural show where visitors can browse a wonderful display of the finest livestock, produce and crafts that the Durham Dales have to offer. The show is held on the second weekend in September in the picturesque surrounds of Unthank Park.

This year marked the 175th year and was a wonderful day for local residents and visitors alike, with activities such as Cumberland wrestling, the horseman and the knight display and young farmers tug of war. The show also hosts trade, horticultural and craft and food stalls, the Craft and Food stalls marquee has pitches for around forty stalls covering various aspects from confectionery to meats, cheeses to preserves, jewellery to bags, books to crafts, plus much more.

Lakes & Dales Co-operative held a fundraising stall within the Craft & food marquee, raising funds for new charity partner Childline. With activities such as a tombola, temporary tattoos and fresh fruit meringues, the stall managed to raise over £200 and helped raise awareness for the charity, which is ran by NSPCC and gives children and young people access to confidential support when they need it and ensures they have someone to turn to when no one else is listening.
