Sarah Hayton steps out to raise over £500 for Alzheimer’s Society

On 17th June Sarah Hayton, a Customer Service Assistant at Lakes & Dales Co-operative, Keswick put on her walking boots and set off on a 25 mile trek of Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland. The walk began in Brocolitia Roman Fort and finished at Lanercost Priory on the 19th June.

Sarah raised a fantastic £582, walking in aid of Lakes & Dales Co-operative’s partnership charity; Alzheimer’s Society, raising money and awareness for the charity which is close to her heart. Last year Sarah sadly lost her Father to the disease and has since become a passionate ambassador for the charity by taking part in numerous fundraising events throughout the year. The walk was especially poignant as it finished on Father’s Day, making those final few steps a real personal achievement.

Each year Lakes & Dales Co-operative embark upon a charity partnership lasting one year, in which all of our store teams throw themselves into fundraising for the chosen charity. This year Lakes & Dales Co-operative have teamed up with Alzheimer’s Society to create Dementia- Friendly Communities Together. At the half-way stage of the partnership Lakes & Dales Co-operative and their parent company Scotmid Co-operative have raised over £132,000, which will be split between Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Scotland.
