Welcome to Lakes & Dales Co-Op

Lakes & Dales Co-operative was formed when the Penrith Co-operative, Keswick Co-operative, Stanhope and Weardale Co-operative, Seaton Valley Co-operative and several other independent Co-operatives joined the Scottish Midland Co-operative Society (Scotmid Co-op). We have eight stores serving local communities across Cumbria and the Lake District, Weardale and south-east Northumberland.

With New Year just around the corner, here are some top resolutions from Alzheimer's Society Alzheimer's Society to look after your #BrainHealth and help reduce your risk of dementia

Look after your health ❤️‍🩹
Taking control of your health should help to reduce your risk of dementia. If you’re aged 40–74, start by getting your free NHS health check:

In England, you’ll be invited to this by your GP every five years, unless you have a pre-existing health condition. In Wales, you can use the ‘Add to Your Life’ free online health and wellbeing check.

In Northern Ireland, you can book a Well Check via Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke (NICHS).

It’s also important to protect your head from injuries by wearing protective headgear where there is a higher-than-normal risk of head injury – for example, riding a bike, working on a building site, horse-riding, playing cricket -– and definitely if skateboarding!

Get support from your GP if you are having trouble with hearing loss, or if you think you may be depressed. Both of these have been shown to increase risk of dementia.

We are proud to support Alzheimer Society throughout 2025 and 2026 helping to ensure nobody faces dementia alone and championing a future of better brain health for all.
