Eden Valley and Penrith Astronomy Group
The Eden Valley and Penrith Astronomy Group is not for profit community based organisation run by volunteers. Our aim is to advance public education in Astronomy and Space Science within the Eden Valley, Penrith, North Lakes and Carlisle area. We do this through regular group meetings, presentations and stargazing activities. In addition we organise special outreach activities in order to engage with youth groups, schools, cubs, scouts and the wider public. Everyone is welcome no matter what age or level of experience.
Funding Goal
Funds will be spent on developing an exhibition that combines striking astrophotography with engaging science information. This will be a resource that we will use at local community and school events.
The first showing of this exhibition would be at the Rheged Centre, Penrith on their Community Exhibition area (September–December 2026).
Tyneside Gymnastics (Seaton Delaval)
Tyneside is a not for profit club with all fees being spent on the running of our facility and covering coaching costs.
We offer gymnastics and cheer classes for children of all abilities from pre school to teenage years.
Whilst we do have squad groups across several disciplines the emphasis is on participation and enjoyment rather than achievement.
Funding Goal
Funds will be spent on replacing the asymmetric bars and installation. These are used by recreational gymnasts to develop their arm strength and conditioning. The gymnastics in the artistic disciplines also train on the bars each session, developing routines working towards regional competition routines.
Whamba! Whytrig Middle School Band (Seaton Delaval)
An afterschool Caribbean themed band that enjoys coming together to play music together and in the local community. Children from ages 9 to 13 who enjoy learning an new skill and seeing others take pleasure in listening to their music.
Funding Goal
Funds will be spent on more equipment to increase the capacity and diversity of our after school club and provide an array of instruments the children can learn to play and enjoy within the after school club and at community events. It will also increase their skillset and instrument knowledge and adaptability.
