No matter which area of our business you work in, we will provide a range of training to support you from your first day all the way through your career. The majority of the training we offer our store team members is on the job. It helps you to learn in ‘real-life’ situations where you will have the benefit of support should you need it. You will receive an induction that will help you to settle into your team, give you a feel for what your role will involve and leave you feeling passionate, inspired and excited about your career with us. A selection of the learning and development opportunities we offer are outlined below:
The Academy
We recognise that our employees are our most important asset and we have established The Academy to support and develop our people. The Academy plays a pivotal role in providing development opportunities for new employees joining the business and existing team members who want to progress their career with us.
Competent Manager Programme
As a new Manager or an existing Team Member who wants to progress your career with us, you will complete a twelve week development programme. Over this period you will spend time in one of our Stores of Excellence following a detailed on the job and self-learning programme and attend sessions at The Academy, gaining the skills and understanding of our business and goals to equip you for success.
E-Learning
We offer e-learning modules on a variety of subjects, especially focusing on the basic tools you will require in fulfilling your role and meeting legislation. A selection of the modules on offer includes Customer Service, Health & Safety, Merchandising, Security Essentials, Food Hygiene and Think 25.
City & Guilds Personal License Holder Qualification (PLH)
PLH supports us in achieving our goal of being a responsible retailer by providing you with skills and knowledge about Licensing Laws, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and Delivering Customer Excellence. This is a nationally recognised qualification that involves a day’s training session with our Learning & Development Team, as well as the opportunity to meet with colleagues from other areas of the business.
Vocational Qualifications (NVQ/SVQ)
These qualifications focus on learning while on the job and integrating your skills and knowledge into the work place. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn something new and improve on established skills.
