A Lakes & Dales store assistant has taken to the road to raise money to help Keswick and Cockermouth flood victims. Sarah Hayton lives in Cockermouth and works in the Keswick Lakes and Dales store, which was badly damaged in the floods, and when she saw the devastation in both towns she wanted to do something to help.

Sarah has taken part in a walk spanning 26 miles which is the return journey between the two towns. The walk took place on Monday, 15th February, starting in Cockermouth with town mayor Julie Laidlaw, and also joined by Workington MP Sue Hayman. Keswick mayor Paul Titley  also joined Sarah for the final miles of her walk into the town.

Sarah said: “I was devastated when I saw the mess in areas of Keswick and Cockermouth the day after the floods, including Lakes & Dales Co-operative. This is my way of giving a bit back.”
